Photos of Garbage

Alonzo

Finally. Some updates. Photos of our Bahamas excursion are available. We had a relaxing trip with great weather. Our cottage was right on the beach of Abaco Sound near Great Cistern Bay on Abaco Island. [ Google Map ]

Why all the pictures of trash? During our trip, I read The World Without Us by Alan Weisman. Sitting by the ocean was the perfect location to read this fascinating book about how our planet would respond free of humans, our technology, our agriculture, our consumption and all the other impacts we press upon Earth every hour.

One chapter, titled “Polymers are Forever” is happening right now. Living in America, we don’t often see the impact of our love for plastic. We have recycling and garbage pick-up. Our beaches are, for the most part, combed and cleaned regurlarly by us. In other locations, such as Abaco Island, our love of plastic is evident when you walk down any beach.

Chicago, 99 Years and In Rainbows

Monday, October 8th, 2007

Tina and I are back in Cincinnati after a five day excursion to Chicago. I attended the inspiring Adobe Max conference and Tina museum-hopped and shopped. The town was obviously abuzz with hopes for a long Cubs postseason stay. Well, that didn’t materialize. Ninety-nine years.

Upon my return Thursday, I stumbled over to Dead Air Space to see the latest coded message from Radiohead about when we can expect their new album. Instead of little stick persons to decipher, Jonny Greenwood simply announced the new album is finished, it is called In Rainbows and it will be out October 10!

A new Radiohead album is always exciting but the release of In Rainbows is causing a little earthquake in the music industry. Right now, the only way to get it is on Radiohead’s site and you decide the price. “No. Really, it’s up to you.”
